34th Annual Wooden Boat Show
April 28 - May 3, 2008
Commemorating wooden boats and traditional skills at the
NC Maritime Museum in Beaufort since 1975

During the week before the show, observe maritime crafts at the Watercraft Center or sail in traditional boats. At the Boat Show, enjoy sailboat races & rides, displays, historic vessels, nautical crafts and re-enactors, boat models, shipwreck exhibits and the Beaufort National Boatbuilding Challenge. Molasses Creek, folk musicians from Ocracoke, will perform

Ocean Girls Day 2008

NC Maritime Museum and NC Aquarium present this free workshop

Free workshop for middle school girls ages 10-14.Includes demonstrations, outdoor activities & a career fair. Aquarium admission, lunch & materials also included.

2008 Maritime Day

11:00 am to 3:00 pm

Members of The Friends, and the general public, are invited to spend Sunday, May 18 on the waterfront of the museum's Olde Beaufort Seaport site and enjoy a picnic lunch, live entertainment, boating and other family-oriented activities.

This event is free and open to the public.
Everyone is invited to go sailing in the museum’s fleet of traditional wooden boats, cast a line cane pole fishing, fish print a T-shirt, join in games, or just relax and enjoy the music and spectacular view.
The grounds will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All activities are free including lunch, which will be served throughout the day!

Crab Cake Cook-Off

12:00-2:00 pm

Amateur chefs compete in the Watercraft Center of the museum.
Only 100 crab tasting tickets will be sold!
Tickets will be available at the NC Maritime Museum Store in early June 2008.
Activities will be available for children and “crabby” items will be for sale.
Educational materials on how to catch and prepare the feisty, tasty crab with an attitude will be available.

Fall In The Water Meet

1100 am - 6:00 pm

The 2008 Fall In-the-Water Meet will be held at the new dock facilities at Olde Beaufort Seaport on September 13 from 11 am-6 pm! Come join in this celebration of small craft and check out the new facilities. The museum will have the fleet of Spritsail skiffs there for TSCA members to sail and, if conditions warrant, take visitors for boat rides. All small craft are welcome and we hope to have quite a collection of boats on hand!
A pig pickin’ is planned for 4 pm and everyone is welcome to attend. $10/pp ($5/pp for current TSCA members).
Camping is allowed, just let us know!

Boatshop Bash
Annual Fundraiser

The Boatshop Bash is an evening social occasion held in the museum's Watercraft Center providing members and guests the opportunity to gather together, grow The Friends' membership, and raise funds to assist in The Friends' on-going support of the museum.
Make plans to attend this fun filled event with a Halloween theme that will include live music, culinary delights, and silent and live auctions (again with a 20’ Jones Brothers Bateau)!
$50/pp for members, $75 non-members (includes individual membership).
