Passion
for all things connected to the sea is what unites the members
of our museum. We know that our members have many different ways
of indulging their love of maritime history and their desires
for keeping our maritime traditions alive. We want to help you
experience the museum on as many levels as you wish.
Check
out our current
projects! We welcome you to indulge your passion for the
sea!
You
may enjoy serving as a volunteer on a one day field trip or as a
regular tour guide on a weekly or monthly basis. Perhaps you
would enjoy helping out with one of our many children’s
programs
Your
passion might include working with the staff of the Cape Lookout
Studies Program - that usually includes frequent trips by boat
out to the Cape Lookout field station. Or maybe you would prefer
helping the staff track the local dolphin population.
If
your hobby is woodworking, you might enjoy working on the
restoration of some of the museum’s collection boats or the
traditional sailing craft that are built and sold through the
Watercraft Center. The varied classes that are taught at the
Watercraft Center is another way to get involved.
Much
too busy to volunteer right now but want to be a part of our
museum family? Financial donations are always needed,
appreciated and rewarded! Pick your favorite project and send us
a donation. Do you have something we need? A tool that’s
needed in the watercraft center is a great donation as is a boat
you would rather donate than sell. There are so many ways for
you to become involved in your museum. If we haven’t mentioned
them here - we are open for suggestions. Do you have an idea? Email
us!
